Salesman Takes First

American Salesman took first place in the television/movie script category of the 77th Annual Writer’s Digest writing competition. Salesman was chosen from the ranks of over 1,000 script submissions and will see its first fifteen pages published in the Writer’s Digest 2008 Contest Booklet (December) along with the winning manuscripts of the nine other categories.

When the family business starts to fail, Anderson Cavanaugh, in a last-ditch effort to right the sinking ship, enlists with the Solomon Corporation, a paramilitary organization of door-to-door Bible salesmen. From the horrors of basic training to the mean streets of suburbia, every moment of Anderson’s new life is caught on tape by a crack team of documentarians tasked with making the Solomon Corporation’s annual corporate video.
